I went to see this exhibition last winter at Prado Museum. Although the exhibition consists of some twenty odd paintings, all the paintings show the artistic development of Renoir as he matured and influenced other Impressionists. Each painting has a biographical sketch of the sitter and their reaction to the painting. It is interesting to read that some of the sitters did not like his paintings and brought it back to Renoir without making a payment. This book gives you a peek to the times and life of a Renoir who struggled to make a living as a artist. All the color plates are exactly like the original paintings at the exhibition. I recommend this book to lovers of Renoir.
